Motors and Mischief has grown out of a lifelong obsession with cars and car projects. Joel has a professional history with cars, having owned a body shop in years past as well as done dozens and dozens of projects and restorations. Between his personal collection and cars his business has owned, he reckons he's owned over 100 cars in his lifetime. He also figures he's lost about $7 million dollars in cars but is convinced his strategy of "buy high, sell low, make it up in volume" will one day pay off. Some of his favorite vehicles he's owned have been a 1983 280ZX Turbo, a 1965 Chevy Impala 409, a 1972 DeTomaso Pantera, and a 1996 Honda CBR600 Smokin' Joe's replica.

Although never having worked in the automotive industry professionally, Jake none-the-less has plenty of car experience, having built a 1987 Jeep Wrangler as well as meticulously repaired and improved every vehicle he's owned, including his current 2013 Ford Raptor, which is a star and frequent subject of this channel. Jake's also owned a 1965 Chevy Impala, many motorcycles and one ancient Mazda B2000 pickup truck that proved over and over its not the capability of the vehicle but the sheer will and determination of the driver.
